Several months ago, an old friend from high school shared with me the wonder that is Pandora internet radio. Basically, Pandora lets you choose a favorite artist, and it creates a radio station based on that type of music. My favorite of all time is the Indigo Girls, and when I put their name in, I got a radio station that played the Indigo Girls, along with other folksy rock female artists that encompassed that same vibe. Brilliant!
Since then, I have created Brad Paisley radio, Sara Evans radio, Jo Dee Messina radio, and my personal favorite, Simon and Garfunkel radio. I am currently listening to that last station, and it is fantastic! Simon and Garfunkel have been a favorite of mine ever since my mom used to pop in her tape of the Concert in Central Park on our way to school back when we lived in Corpus Christi, TX. My favorite song was "The Boxer," and what I most liked about that song was the chorus. We used to sing along at the top of our lungs, driving in that little blue Ford Escort, me in the front seat, and my sister in the back, my mom at the wheel, as we headed toward the school that we went to and she taught at. Those were good times.
My Simon and Garfunkel station plays a lot of Simon and Garfunkel. However, it also plays some Peter, Paul, and Mary; some Crosby, Stills, and Nash; some Beatles; some John Denver; and some James Taylor. And in between those songs are songs by artist that I have never heard of but that still give me that same vibe as the Simon and Garfunkel music gave me all those years ago.
So if you are looking for some new music that reminds you of some old favorites, check out Pandora. With your account, you can access your personal stations from any computer, so it can travel with you! I really recommend it!
Ah, Jim Croce! Another old favorite I had forgotten about! I love my Pandora!!!!
