On-line shopping really chaps my...well, you know...

So about a week and a half ago, I started paying attention to the fact that the underwires in my C-cup bras were causing a decent amount of pain from where they were digging into the outer edges of my, um, "girls." While at work last Sunday, I mentioned something about this to my coworkers, along with a random comment that I might have to suck it up and get measured because my current size was SO not working for me. Here's the best thing about working with a bunch of women. One of the nurses on my floor piped up with, "Oh! I can teach you how to do that!" Thank you, Oprah, for teaching my co-worker to measure bra sizes so she could pass that knowledge on to me...

Anyhoo, being we work in a hospital, we of course had a measuring tape in a random desk drawer (to measure various illness-related things such as wounds and bedsores). I pulled that puppy out and measured me up to a 38-D. And that explains the wires digging in to the sides of my breasts.

So I did what any good woman and consumer would do with this information. I shopped. And I did it as soon as I got home, on the Lane Bryant website. I like Lane Bryant because they send coupons to my house, and I can go on their website, and between my $50 coupon and the sale prices and clearance deals, I can get about $320 worth of stuff for $130. It makes me happy. I know that obtaining more material things should not make me happy, but it does. I happily picked out two lovely balconette bras, some undies, a pair of gauchos (just to test them out), two tank tops, some exercise clothes, and a brown cardigan. I chose the normal shipping, which takes 4-6 days. I started waiting.

I am still waiting.

According to the USPS website, my package was scheduled to arrive in Bethlehem around 6:00 Friday night. No word if it did, in fact, arrive.

The mail came today, and the mailman did not have a box for me. He did have my tax refund, which was certainly a happy thing. But no box. And that means no bras. And that means another day of pain.

And because I didn't have much going on today, I decided to hang out at home and wait for my new bras to arrive before taking a shower and getting ready for the day. As a result, it is 4:00 PM, I have not yet showered, I have to be at work at 6:30 tonight, and I HAVE NO NEW BRAS!

And that is why...well, just check out the post title to see how I was going to finish that.

Are you using lane bryant linked to the store or lane bryant linked to lbcatalog.com? I have never ordered from the one associated with the store, but I've had great luck with lbcatalog.

I have also never been happy with bras from the Lane Bryant store. They just did not hold me up. I'm a DD, and it was not a pretty sight! I need the industrial Playtex type. Good luck!

I personally can't imagine buying a bra without trying it on? Even at LB, where I buy all my bras my size ranges between about 3 sizes, depending on the style/fabric/etc. I find that each type is cut different, and even in the same style, one may fit different than the next. (Because they cut the fabric in stacks and it shifts.)

Also, LB bras tend to be WAY expensive, for the basic cotton underwire, you can get the exact same style bra at target for 1/2 the price. The Playtex line is awesome.

How very very irritating!

You will feel so liberated once they arrive. I recently was re-measured and fitted (since I've been guessing at my size for more than a decade now). Delightful.

Wow, I need to get measured too. A friend of a friend recently did that and went from a 36B to a 34D! Holy wrong cup size batman!

I don't try on bras either. I've shopped from catalogs plenty of times. I'm, um, a big gal. DD, so sometimes catalog is always the way to go.

But LB and Avenue have been pretty good to me in the past at the actualy stores. Don't worry, they're comin'.

as I've worked in the online commerce industry for many years now, I'd say write back to lane bryant in email. include your order number. tell them that you want THEM to check on the status. and request a reduction in shipping charges. they most likely will do it, especially if you word things in such a way that you're firm, but not psychotic.
