Drum roll, please...
Today, I visited a real yarn store. It is called Tangled Yarns, and it is in the lovely historic downtown area of Bethlehem. When I walked in the door, I gasped with pleasure. There was so much yarn, and it was so beautiful, and there were projects hanging all over the place! It was a sight to behold.
I bought some yarn to make my first hat. Before I start the hat, I am going to use some cheap old yarn to practice reducing because I will have to do some reducing to make it into a hat. I may even do a mini practice hat out of some of my cheap stuff because I don't want to mess up my new yarn. Anyway, the hat will be made out of Mission Falls 1824 wool, and I got it in a rusty red color. I also picked up four skeins of Kureyon wool in a funky variated color pattern. I don't know what I will do with that, but I couldn't leave it in the store. It was too cool. The woman who was working did give me a pattern for a honeycomb scarf and suggested the Kureyon for that...but it involves things like purling over and purling two together, and I need to teach myself how to do that first. Anyway, it was a successful trip.
Anyway, I am realizing that I confessed my indiscretions and then vanished for a few days. I have started my next clinical rotation (mental health), so I was at the hospital for eight hours both Saturday and Sunday. And it's about a half hour trip each way, so that pretty much shot my weekend. However, it was AWESOME! I didn't expect to enjoy this rotation, and I found that I really am. I don't know if I will decide to specialize in it some day, but it will be helpful no matter what I do. So the lesson there is not to pre-judge an experience...it probably won't end up being what you thought it would be.
