Charting New Territory

Today, I am going to take this blog somewhere where it has not been before...and that is into the world of professional sporting events. Last night, my beloved Yankees lost game four of the ALDS to send the Cleveland Indians to play the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS. And with that loss comes much speculation that Joe Torre, after twelve years as the Yankees' manager, will be out of a job.

Now, I have certainly been a Yankees fan for more than twelve years. And I certainly rooted for that team before Joe Torre took the helm. However, for the last twelve years, the image of him sitting on the bench, managing his team, has been synonymous with the Yankees for me. I can't imagine the team without him...I have dealt with the loss of some good players who either retired or chased more money or got traded to improve the standing of the team, but I don't want to have to say goodbye to Joe.

For the record, I think George Steinbrenner is kind of an ass.

And all I can hope now is that the Red Sox don't win the World Series.
