Smorgasbord

And now, my friends, it's time for a mega-post. I have seriously been neglecting my blog. I have seriously been neglecting the blogosphere. And as a result, I see my blog being slowly removed from people's link lists. And y'all know how excited I was to find myself linked to on other people's blogs...so I am back. The bloodletting must stop...former readers, please come back to me! I won't neglect you any longer!

Alright...enough of that. Suffice to say that life has gotten a little crazy lately. So I am going to use this post to play catch-up.

First of all, to Steph, who I didn't even know had a blog (I will now be a faithful reader), thanks for asking about the wedding! Quite honestly, I am a little bit stalled right now. How is your planning going?

Secondly, a big happy birthday to Master Noah and Miss Bella! May the next many, many years be as good as the first one was!

Those of you who comment regularly may notice that I have now added the little verification feature to my comments. Damn spammers...I was getting sick of deleting their comments all the time, so now they can't come play anymore!

And now for a more normal post-like section of this train wreck that I am trying to play off as an actual blog update...

Living at home with the 'rents has been a neccesity and a blessing for me. I would be bankrupt and possibly homeless by now if I didn't have my family to fall back on. I don't know how those without supportive families do it. I am fortunate that I have such a supportive family and that they welcomed me back with open arms (and in some ways, with open wallets because they are supporting me way more than any 29-year-old should expect to be supported).

However, now I am looking toward the next chapter, where I get to leave the family home and set off to make my own home with my future husband, in a house he built that I will now make more into a home. And you know what that leads to? Well, friends, let's just call it nesting...

Everywhere I go, I see things that would be So Cute for the House. I go to Target..."Oh, look at that shelf! It would be So Cute for the House!" I head to the Moravian Book Shop..."Oh, look at that Moravian star! It would be So Cute for the House!" I look at the furniture ad..."Check out that sofa! It would be So Cute for the House!"

I think that, if let loose and left free to roam, I could become Dangerous. It's good that I am living a relatively credit card-free lifestyle right now because everything looks good to me. I can't wait to get all my stuff together and move it up there and arrange it just so to create a classy, yet inviting, warm and friendly (warm and fuzzy?) environment.

I just have to get through the next however-many-months-until-I-move-in first. And maybe it would be better to concentrate on school more than nesting in the mean time. But when things are quiet and it's late at night (or 8:00, which sometimes qualifies as late at night for me), I can hear that voice inside me saying, "I wonder what it would look like if we put that picture right there..." It's a voice that I can't ignore, friends. It's the voice that will help me make a house my new home...

aw, thanks for the birthday wishes. we missed you.

I feel that way too about my house and I already live in it and it's already fully furnished. it just never seems to end.

it's so nice to read that you appreciate your family so much. I know quite a few people who rely on their families in this way and are totally ungrateful. your family raised you up right!

I love decorating. Don't you wish you had a limitless budget - not for expensive things per se, just limitless things.

Good luck trying to supress the urge.

It is so much fun to make your house a home. I hope you find all the perfect things and they are all on CLEARANCE!
