My Car Hates Me

So as y'all just get further and further from getting a taste of the blog-entry-I-wrote-on-paper-while-listening-to-Kate-and-CJ, I bring you further proof that my car, Barney the Purple Saturn, has it in for me.

I headed off to work at the mall yesterday at about 4:00 PM. My car (tricky bastard) started right up and cheerfully carried me to my destination, with no hint of what was to come. At approximately 8:04, I came out of the mall, got in my car, turned the key, and...nothing. Well, not exactly nothing. The lights on the dashboard flickered every-so-slightly...but that was it. Now, I am no car expert, but I am ever-astute, so I realized that the old battery was not getting much juice. Dammit. Back into the mall...

One call to my friendly garage ("So, if I have it towed there, can you fix it tomorrow?") and AAA ("Please come get me because the mall is going to close soon, and then I will be all alone."), and I was sitting on the curb waiting for the tow truck to show up "within the hour." And you know what? It did.

I was offered a jump. Barney turned back on. His lights flickered. The tow truck guy said something to the tune of, "Yeah, I wouldn't drive this." He loaded the car up onto his friendly tow truck, took the envelope that I had filled out for the key drop box, and took it on its merry way. My coworker gave me a ride home. All was right with the world.

Unless it turns out to be more than the battery...and then I am really screwed.

Cars truly stink. I wish we didn't need them.

Good luck. I went through that once and it turned out to be my alternator. Luckily alternators aren't too bad. I think it was a little over 100 dollars. Which is bad, but not car work bad, if that makes any sense.

Cars suck. Everytime mine acts up, I swear I am going to get a job near my house and just walk / ride a bike to work.

I hate car issues. it could be the alternator, as lonna said - though in that case, the car would have turned over. perhaps spark plugs or ignitor. either way, it shouldn't be too big of a deal.
