The yarn...oh, the yarn!

I have managed to pull myself out of my funk by going to AC Moore (which, by the way, has a MUCH larger yarn section than Michael's) and buying me some new knitting supplies! I have decided that I want to learn to knit socks. And I want to learn to knit them with double-pointed needles (also known as DPNs). To do that, I need new yarn (YAY!) and also some DPNs. So I got me some of that. My sister also asked if I would make her a hat once she saw the snazzy one I made myself. She specifically requested the color "grass green." Michael's had no color even close to that in hat-worthy materials. AC Moore, however? They hooked me up (which is a great crochet pun...but I don't crochet; I knit.).

I have decided that even though I love the lure of the fancy yarn I can pick up at the yarn store down town, Lion Brand makes a great product, and they have many, many varieties. For my sister's hat, I picked up some Lion Brand Homespun in Florida Keys Green. To try to make socks, I got Lion Brand Magic Stripes in Bright Spring Pattern and Lumberjack Black. I can't imagine that this is going to pretty...but the yarn came with a free pattern for basic socks, and it says one skein makes a pair of socks! And I am smart...I can figure this out (I hope)!

I also got some more needles. The Boye Baleen needles (now discontinued, and not made out of real whale parts, so don't worry) were on clearance, so I picked them up in five sizes. I also got three different sizes of DPNs. In other areas, I got some hemp and beads to make Bill a "manly hemp necklace." I made him one before, and apparently it was too girly for him. So I am going to try to testosterone it up a little.

And to those who are thinking, "Huh...they must be back together," fear not. I have not jumped back in and don't plan to. We are still in that exact same place...working on ourselves individually and seeing what will end up happening. So while things are good with us, it isn't really an "us." Someday, maybe...but not now.

You are so motivated. I made a hemp necklace for myself once, and I was very proud of it. I wore it to a party, and got mixed comments on it, and was crushed and never wore it again. That was the beginning and the end of my creative drive. Now, I just blog

I wish sean would wear a manly hemp necklace. alas, no. and he refuses my pleas to pierce his giant earlobes. oh well.

you are a knitting machine! was it only yesterday that you were lamenting about how you didn't know how to knit in the round?

I did the exact same thing with 28goingon40 the other night. We went to AC Moore in our PJs for yarn because we were both sick of what we were making. LOL.

Patrice - I will happily make you an iPod cozy. And you don't have to buy it. You can e-mail me at thomas.mm@gmail.com if you really want one for him!
